1st Annual Husker Memorial Golf Tournament
Palm Desert, CA
Fellas, I want to Thank you all for taking time out of your busy lives and coming out to remember Greg last weekend, I really appreciate it !! I thought it would be neat to tell some Husker stories after the calcutta, but by the time it rolled around I'd already heard over 50 stories I think, so it was great for me to get together with all of you and remember him that way .... Hope to see you all next year as we move the tournament to Tahoe in July (any suggestions for the following year ?). More of my family (including Celeste) will hopefully be able to be there if we have it in July. Look for info in the next few months or so from Mike or I as to when and where, and I really hope you plan on coming again. Next year we're going to get Hrzina to actually put in a bid in the calcutta so we can get the pot a little bigger (that guy has an uncanny knack for picking the horses :-) Anyway, Can't say thanks enough for everyone participating, had a blast and I know it will help in the healing process, at least for me .....
Special Thanks to Mike, Kelly, Mr. & Mrs Meka for doing all the necessary legwork so we all could enjoy the great weekend !! T-shirts were a special touch, they look great.... Thanks a Ton !!
Todd and Trewin get the awards for longest distance traveled (Sacramento and San Mateo), Thanks for making the effort fellas .....

Here are the few pictures I remembered to take during the weekend. I got some pictures of everyone playing caps the night before, but surprisingly they turned out really blurry since I was 14 beers in by that time :-) Next year I'll have a designated photographer (anyone but Curtis) ..... Wish I would have had a picture of the sheer volume of 32 oz Miller High Life's $126 will buy.... I think that's my new favorite beer, Thanks Brody !!!
Corny, BK, Curtis, Springer, Lange, Trewin Trewin doing some front yard work for the course
residents. He tried to climb their palm tree looking for
his ball, turns out it was in the middle of the fairway !
Brody "Supernut" (taking a leak), Hrzina, Hartung. The sprinkler is no match for Langer's concentration as
he puts the ball into a pool from another neighbors' backyard
Corny deciding if he should put another HUGE divot in this Langer, Curtis, Hrzina, Springer, Todd
guys backyard or take his 4th DNF (Did not finish) on the hole.
Thanks Madre Meka and Kelly for helping Mike !!! Almost had a casualty on the course as Trewin got dehydrated
from 3 beers, no water, 117 degree heat, other factors ......
He did rally strong though ....
Mike announcing the winners. Won by 8 strokes !! After the smoke cleared, Mike had $205 to donate to the
Leukemia and Cancer society ! That will grow larger
each year, no doubt.
KEEP IN TOUCH, AND SEE YOU NEXT YEAR !!! -- BK
